5 Things Ladies With Perfect Skin Always Do
Ever see a woman with flawless skin and wonder how that’s possible?
Some are blessed with great skin thanks to genetics, but most of us have to work for it every single day. To help you solve your skincare problems, here are 5 things ladies with perfect skin always do:
1. Waxing
Want to get smooth, hair-free skin for weeks? Well, you can achieve that if you opt to waxing. Take note however that deciding on undergoing a wax is not an overnight decision. It needs some preparation no matter how small the area you want to wax like your upper lip or eyebrows or how large the area of waxing will be like your chest, back or legs.
Exfoliating two to three times per week with a manual scrub and/or hydroxy acid complex can prevent cellular buildup that blocks the follicle opening and prevents the hair shaft from exiting to the skin surface. It also removes dull dehydrated skin cells and encourages a more youthful and hydrated glow to your skin.
2. Facial
Imagine hydrating steam infusing your skin, a massaging touch moving across your forehead, cheeks and chin, and a nourishing serum working its way into your skin as the muscles in your face relax and soften. A skillful facial offers all of these, not to mention the chance to let your mind and body rest. While there are plenty of face treatments to choose from (including a LED Light Therapy Mask!), the main purpose of most facials is to thoroughly clean your skin, rid it of impurities and feed it with vitamins, minerals and nutrients such as vitamins A, C, and E, as well as peptides and hyaluronic acid—a process that brings other benefits and will leave your complexion refreshed and radiant.
3. Always use sunscreen
The essential skin proteins, such as collagen, keratin, and elastin are protected by sunscreen. These proteins are required for keeping the skin smooth and healthy. Make sure your sun block has titanium oxide in it for endowing these benefits to the skin.
For the longest time, I was under the impression that the darker your skin tone, the less sunscreen you’ll need. This was quickly demystified by one of my friends who swears that her secret to an even skin tone is daily use of sunscreen with a high SPF.
4. Take vitamins
Vitamins are essential for maintaining optimal levels of skin health, appearance, and function. Eating nutrient-dense foods, taking vitamin supplements, and using topical products containing vitamins can all be beneficial. In addition to helping skin look its best, vitamins can also be used to manage a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, and the effects of photoaging.
After reading up on countless of celebrity beauty regimens, one thing’s clear: a good supplement is a must-have! I took up cod liver oil given that this was something my mother forced us to consume when we were kids – a ritual that was the norm in most households growing up. Not only is it great for your skin but it’s also great for hair, nails, treating wounds, increasing cognitive performance and a lot more!
5. Moisturize
Moisturizing can reduce the appearance of other blemishes. Freshly moisturized skin has a healthy sheen, which can even out any existing blemishes. Some moisturizers have some tint or self-tanner that can work with any skin tone.
Moisturizing helps your skin stay young. The most sensitive areas of your skin – the face, ears, neck, and chest – replace themselves more often than any other area on your skin. This daily loss of skin cells leaves these areas vulnerable to the dryness and the elements – in fact, they are highest-risk areas for skin cancer. Moisturizing can help give your sensitive skin the boost it needs to repair itself and stay healthy.
Regular use of a moisturizer that has a high concentration of humectants to help draw in moisture may keep the skin supple and ease the growth of the hair out of the follicle. Some examples of humectants include, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, glycerin, propylene glycol and butylene glycol. Some ancillary ingredients to help improve the skin after hair removal include tea tree oil to help minimize bacteria, hemp oil to assist with healing and repair, and retinyl palmitate or retinol to promote healthy cell regeneration and desquamation.
